Does your ADHD child often walk into things, like walls, corners, furniture, and other people? Typically, if I go anywhere with my husband, he walks in front of or behind me. If he tries to walk next to me, I end up walking into him or forcing him ever closer to the wall.

Spatial awareness is often a problem for people with ADHD. Spatial awareness is being aware of your body in relation to what’s around it.
There are several theories as to why people with Attention Deficit Disorder seem to have poor spatial awareness. One is that it’s simply connected to our lack of attention and focus in general. Another theory is that it is due to poor coordination between the left and right halves of our brain – the two halves are not synchronized to work together.
Poor spatial awareness affects more than just our physical movement. It can also account for reading difficulties, poor math abilities, and even poor directional skills.
