I got some marketing materials for a Brain Balance center opening where I live. I sent an email, but got no response and sort of forgot about it. The center opened and then mysteriously closed, re-opening in another location about a mile away. I re-contacted them, and after a brief initial consultation, agreed to have my son tested. I paid $375 for the initial "testing" (although they wouldn't give me a copy of the "results") which lasted 4 hours, broken down into two 2-hour sessions. I was shown a lot of papers, and the doctor and his assistant (I think she was also his wife) talked a lot of technical, quasi-medical jargon for several minutes. When I asked for a simpler summary of the findings, I was told my son has a right brain weakness and borderline Asperger's. By way of background, I consulted the center because although he is a straight A student, he often struggles with emotional issues--temper control, OCD, socially inappropriate at times, etc. So, that said, while this program may work for some, a red flag went up for me during the presentation of the results. They were not very professional, and did not give any substance regarding the content of the program. They kept saying over and over again how the program will really help my son, but did not really give me any metrics on how they would be able to prove the efficacy of the program. They were more focused on moving towards getting me scheduled and how I was going to pay for it than anything. Raised a big red flag for me, so I cut my losses and opted not to dip into my savings for the upwards $6K cost of the program. If anyone has researched or has any more details into the content of the program that they would be willing to share, that would be helpful. Thanks!

Kathy,

We had heard of programs like BB in other articles and we were going to read Dr. Melillo's book when we went to see him speak in York, PA. His speech only seemed to confirm what my wife & I had been thinking all along. After hearing him speak, reading his book, and touring the BBC in our area, my wife & I have been to the BBC our area and are going to enroll or son (ADHD, Apergers & high functioning ASD)in the program.

One thing that might throw people off of using this program is cost. It is expensive. If you use the BBC, it is about $6,800 ($6,000 for the program and $500 for the blood test and $300 for their diagnostic test). However, the BBC in our area offers an at-home version of the program for $1,800. This covers the tests and they will train you in the program and then meet with you once a month to make sure that you are on trackwith the program. Or you could try the free method which is to read the book, follow the steps Dr. Melillo lays out for you and use the methods he describes for treatment.

Check with your BBC and find out what they offer and then decide what is best for your family and your child. We wouldn't have known about it if we wouldn't have asked.

While I agree with the people are making comments of "its too good to be true," the comments I have heard from talking with parents that are in the program have given me the one thing that my sons therapists have not. HOPE.

Kathy, I am thinking of the BBC program for my son who suffers from ADHD however I can't help but be a bit hesitate about something that sounds too good to be true. Is there anyway of contacting me to talk to me about your experience?

My son went through the program twice, an outside medical clinic that diagnosed him with ADHD, autism, PDD, and Aspergers has just cleared him of ALL of these conditions. Plus, his seizure activity stopped since in balance. MN Brain Balance center is a gem.

My son has gone through this program in Vernon Hills. It truly is amazing. He was having a real hard time in school. He's in the 5th grade. He was borderline failing partly due to ADHD and partly due to some slight dyslexia that has made learning a bit more difficult. After only 3 months he is now near the top of his class. Behavior issues are a thing of the past. Dyslexia isn't apparent anymore though Brain Balance tells me it's there. It's been minimized though. He also wants to be more involved in school activities because he's now doing better.

I nearly cried at the parent teacher conference.

I heard things about cost, but it came out pretax and they set me up on a 6 month payment plan. It wasn't that much after taxes especially for what it did for my son. Plus it's a lot cheaper than Sylvan or Huntington which I also checked out. They might've helped some with the dyslexia but they weren't sure they could really help much and they had nothing for his behavior.

This program saved my child. His future is unlimited now. Truly Amazing. This works at least twice as good as the next best thing if not 3-4 times better. My family has hope now and my son is happy. Truly happy. Some days I cry just thinking about it.

Throughout the awesome pattern of things you'll secure an A+ just for effort and hard work. Where you actually lost me personally ended up being on all the facts. You know, it is said, details make or break the argument.. And it couldn't be more accurate in this article. Having said that, let me inform you what did work. The authoring is definitely really convincing and that is probably the reason why I am making an effort in order to comment. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Secondly, whilst I can certainly see a jumps in reasoning you make, I am definitely not confident of exactly how you seem to connect your details which inturn make the actual conclusion. For right now I will, no doubt subscribe to your position but hope in the near future you link your facts much better.
