Outside, that is.
Now that the weather is nice (or at least I hope it is wherever you are), make sure you and your kids take advantage of it.
Fresh air, sunshine and exercise can all be extremely beneficial to ADHD and it’s symptoms.
Exercise has been proven to have a positive effect on ADHD, helping the mind to clear and focus. The benefits can last as long as 24 hours. Exercise can also help you sleep better and more soundly, and getting enough rest is also very good for ADHD symptoms.
Exposure to the sun lets you absorb vitamin D, which is helpful for both brain development and function. And if depression is part of your ADHD package, vitamin D can help ease that as well.
As for the fresh air and just the outdoors in general – well, that’s my own theory.
I think that being outdoors in nature is calming and stress relieving and those are both good things when it comes to managing ADHD.
So when you’re making your summer plans, or just looking for something to do, try heading outdoors for a while. It’s awesome.
